Short Bio

Yurui Xie is a second-year graduate student at Keio University Graduate School of Media Design, on track to complete her master's degree in media design in September 2023. Her research explores the kinaesthetic experience and the intangibles of motion. Specifically, she is interested in exploring methods and technologies such as computer graphics, data-enabled design, and AI agents to develop flexible tools and adaptable digital assets that promote inclusivity in artistic or creative practices across various disciplines. Her current research focuses on movement quality visualization for wheelchair dancers, where she combines HCI applications with Laban movement analysis to develop a visualization solution that enhances wheelchair dancers' artistic expression. Yurui has a background in design studies and possesses a versatile skill set encompassing node-based coding, movement tracking, computational design, qualitative research, hands-on prototyping, and project management.
