Short Bio

Ricardo Mestre is a young musician who earned his place on the stages of The Voice Portugal (2015) and the Spanish counterpart La Voz España (2017), being a finalist in both contests, reaching 17 million views in his most prominent performance. More recently, Ricardo Mestre has performed in concert accompanied by philharmonic bands, namely in Vila Franca de Xira (with the Sociedade Euterpe Alhandrense Band), Alcanena (with the Sociedade Musical Mindense Band) and in the main show venue Torres Vedras, accompanied by the Juventude Musical Ponterrolense Band, as part of the project "Ricardo Mestre c/ Philharmonic Band". As far as composition is concerned, Ricardo Mestre also has a vast repertoire of original themes, having recently released his first EP, entitled "Between Words and Sound", through Metrosonic Records, label with which he has recorded and produced several of his original themes, broadcasted on Radio and Television. He studied composition with the composer Fernando Ortega (Ennio Morricone's assistant) and has more than a hundred works written for different musical formats and styles. He has a degree in Music Education from Escola Superior de Educação and is currently attending the 2nd year of the PhD in Digital Media-Art (theme - self-recognition through art) at Universidade do Algarve and Universidade Aberta, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Pedro Alves da Veiga and co-supervision of Prof. Dr. Pedro Pestana. Pedro Pestana, and is currently a researcher at the Research Centre for Sociology and Musical Aesthetics (CESEM) and the Research Centre for Arts and Communication (CIAC), having recently published his first scientific article, entitled Sound Instance: Art, Perception and Composition Through Soundscapes, by the World Academy of Science Engineering and Technology, having been awarded the certificate for best presentation at the International Conference on Music Perception and Embodied Music Cognition.
