Short Bio
Jady Liu is a student who is interested in media art and journalism. His art practice includes the performance ‘Scan Me’ in which he acts as a figure whose face is covered by a QR code mask made from his profile picture and the photography series ‘Communication & Connection’, which discusses cyborg senses and human connection through biology. Recently he is developing his ideas for digital poetry about social media, machine and humanity. His articles and photos have been published on RadiiChina, SupChina, FTChinese and WSJ. He is a researcher of media art at The Center for Visual Studies at Peking University. He is currently translating Critical Terms for Media Studies, writing about bio art and posthumanism for Annual of Contemporary Art in China 2018 with his fellows. He is also the founder of The Living Room, a project to connect creative minds and Beijing Hutong Team, a loose collective to document changes of historic alleyways in Beijing. And he joined The Shanghai Literary Review as associate visual editor recently.
