Short Bio
I am currently an Associate Professor in the School of Computing at the University of Utah where my research and teaching interests include the design of application-specific computers, graphics processors, ray tracing hardware and software, asynchronous systems, and VLSI. I have also spent time as a visiting scholar in the Digital Arts and Experimental Media (DXARTS) program at the University of Washington (2012), and developed collaborative arts/tech classes at the University of Utah. As an artist I am fascinated by connections between arts and technology. One aspect that I find fascinating about this connection is that benefits seem to flow in both directions. This interest in arts/tech collaborations has led me to explore and show a variety of kinetic mixed media artworks, many involving electronic control. I am also a printmaker, and co-founder of Saltgrass Printmakers, a non-profit printmaking studio and gallery in Salt Lake City since 2004.
