Short Bio
Emil Polyak graduated from the University of New South Wales Australia. More than two decades ago he was one of the pioneer artists experimenting with 3D animations on desktop computers. He won the special award for his original work at the National Digital Graphics Exhibition in Digital Communication category in Hungary where he studied telecommunication engineering and photography. As a freelancer Emil worked in a number of areas that employ computer generated imagery; including illustration, print and packaging design, advertising, visualization, animation and visual effects. He studied 3D animation in New Zealand where his academic career began in 2004. During the time in New Zealand, Emil was program leader for two leading institutions specialized in media design studies. Between 2009 and 2014 he was an assistant professor at the New York University, Tisch School of the Arts in Singapore in Southeast Asia, and worked as a consultant and designer/developer in various projects from jewelery design to interactive museum installations. Emil's research in combining animations with interactive control for virtual impersonation in traditional puppetry culminated in a project published at the Siggraph conference in 2012. He presented and published innovative ideas related to education at the International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation in Spain. Emil was a speaker at the Digital Media Design Conference in Taiwan at the National Yunlin University of Science & Technology and a visiting professor at the Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore where he taught Game Story Creation. Emil's recent installations and interactive works have been exhibited at the Artscience Museum Singapore and at the Affordable Art Fair.
