Short Bio

Dr Duncan Rowland is the Reader in Cultural Computing at the University of Lincoln, UK, where his current research is focused on computing in the arts. His primary interest is engaging in creative practice to explore the human condition via relationships with digital devices and more traditional media. He has previously worked as an experimental psychologist, a software developer in the games industry and a human-computer interaction researcher. He has published over 60 scholarly articles (including a best paper at CHI2011) and received funding from the EU, EPSRC, ESRC, AHRC, NESTA and JISC. Duncan has recently had work feature in the Transmediale 2013 arts festival, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2013, has eight iOS apps available in the app store, and has recently augmented his technical expertise through the completion of a Masters Degree in Fine Art at the University of Lincoln.
