    Pilkington's glass company had a good motto which I can't remember exactly and can't find on their site either. It was fairly alchemical, "Out of earth cometh light" type statement. Of course, highly refined sand makes your laptop work. Imagine a thinking beach on a thoughtful planet!

    That's a great comment, David. I can see I am going to become one of those sand collectors now. You have extended my thinking. Have you read Michael Welland's book 'Sand'? I have, of course, vibrated it.
