Short Bio
Bio: Born and raised in New York City, now living in New Jersey, Aileen Bassis creates work in book arts, printmaking, installation, digital photography and is also a published poet. She’s been awarded many artist residencies including the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Frans Masereel Center in Belgium and a Dodge fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center. She received a fellowship from the NJ State Council on the Arts and a grant from the Puffin Foundation. Her solo shows include Rutgers University, Moravian College, University of Pennsylvania, Ohio University in Athens and the Ceres Project Room and Chashama266 in NYC. Her numerous group shows include the Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, Queens Museum, Jersey City Museum, Center for Book Arts in NYC, Redland Museum in Australia. Her work is in the collections of Wellesley College, Indiana University - Purdue Indianapolis, Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, King St. Stephen Museum in Hungary, the Newark Public Library and the NY Public Library.
