Short Bio
Sun Jia is from Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Graduated from the School of Innovation and Design, China Academy of Art, majoring in art and technology. Currently studying Computational Media and Art at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, studying under Professor Xu Bin. The research direction is metaverse, digital entertainment and derivative applications.
With the mission of the School of Design and Innovation of China Academy of Art to innovatively combine art and technology, I developed a strong passion for exploring the intersection of art and technology. I have always been fascinated by the way technology can be used to create new forms of artistic expression and push the boundaries of traditional art forms. My academic interests lie in exploring the potential of digital media to create innovative and engaging artworks that challenge traditional notions of art and its role in society.
When I was in my third year of college, I had the opportunity to join the Media and Interaction Studio of the School of Innovation and Design, China Academy of Art. Here I successfully mastered audio-visual media tools in the context of digital entertainment. Here I was exposed to future digital content and construction of entertainment. New forms of derivative applications in the industry. Additionally, my undergraduate studies at CAA strengthened my social responsibility as a designer. Our mentors emphasize that in every social practice, we should consider users, environment, feasibility, desirability, and feasibility. Under the guidance of my teacher, I formed a systematic design thinking. In order to further my studies at the graduate level, I hope to use my innovative design concepts and skills to explore more possibilities in different subject areas, and I am committed to using my skills to create innovative and impactful multimedia experiences.
As a student majoring in Art and Technology at China Academy of Art, I have gained a solid foundation in both artistic and technical skills related to the field of digital media. In terms of artistic skills, I had the opportunity to study a wide range of traditional art forms and contemporary art practices such as painting, drawing, sculpture, installation art and video art. Through these courses, I developed a keen eye for composition, color, texture, and form, which are key to creating visually stunning works of art.
In addition to the art form, I gained experience in digital art and design. I learned how to use various software applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, which are important tools for creating digital art and design. I developed skills in 3D modeling and animation using software such as Blender and Maya. At the same time, I am good at developing games using interaction engine software such as Unreal and Unity, which is very helpful in creating immersive and interactive digital media experiences.
On the technical side, I have gained a solid foundation in computer programming and digital media production. I learned programming languages such as Python and Processing, which are essential for creating interactive and responsive digital media experiences. I also learned how to use a variety of hardware and software tools for audio and video production, which is important for creating engaging, high-quality digital media content.
In addition to academic training, I gained practical experience through internships and extracurricular activities. For example, I interned at a digital media production company and was involved in the production of various digital media content such as animation, video, and interactive programming. This experience gave me valuable insights into the professional practices and workflows of digital media production teams.
In terms of extracurricular activities, I am involved in various arts and technology projects that allow me to apply my skills in practice. I'm very interested in transmedia storytelling and augmented reality. I have used augmented reality technology to break the boundaries between online and offline, allowing Chinese classical gardens to be presented in different forms. I designed the environments and interactions, as well as the sound effects and music using tools like Unity and Blender. I also made a game based on the Unreal engine. Players need to find and solve the core of the collapse of the virtual world in the game, and combine audio-visual elements to explore the themes of the real world and virtual time and space. Through this work, I reflect on the relationship between people and digital objects. It was a successful technical experiment, the game has many ways to interact with it, and I enjoyed the development process.
