John Antoine Labadie earned a bachelor’s degree in painting from the University of Dayton (1973), a Master’s, in perceptual psychology, from Wright State University (1980) and an interdisciplinary Doctorate from the College of Design, Architecture Art & Planning at the University of Cincinnati (1993). Labadie was a 2005-2006 Fulbright Senior Scholar in digital art for the "Center for Creativity and Innovation Studies" at National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan; an International Artist-in-residence at the Beijing Film Academy in Beijing, China; a Visiting Artist/Scholar at the National Institute of Design in Amedabad India; and a “Visiting Professor” in the Art department, Pädagogische Hochschule Ludwigsburg, Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany - among other activities.
To foster year-round engagement and dialogue within the digital, electronic, computational and media arts. Facilitate dynamic scholarship and creative programming within the ACM SIGGRAPH organization. Promote collaboration between artists and the larger computer graphics and interactive techniques community.
