There is a TON of ways you can integrate. What I do is make textures for 3D models, so I get to use software like Maya to UV unwrap the models, and I also do minor animation and lighting to show how the texture will react to light. I make the textures primarily in Photoshop, but have recently started using Mudbox by Autodesk. I love digital painting, so this textureing gig works well for me!

You can also create 2D animation in Maya. Some examples would be the newer episodes of South Park. It give you more range as far as camera angles and such, also looks great when panning, much smoother and more realistic than Flash. here is another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPabt1tCV9A

Welcome. I primarily use 3D software, but also use 2D software in combination. So no cheating really. I'd be interested in what you do with 3D that you integrate into the 2D.

I also use primarily 2D imagery! I am, however, currently looking for employment as a texture artist. I feel that this will keep me up with the happenings in 3D animation, while allowing me to hold onto my love for 2D animation/art

HI - I am sort of cheating here - I primarily use 2D imagery but I am increasingly incorporating some 3D elements into my work - and am committed to doing so for my next project. So I am looking forward to the discussion.
