Amalia Foka is an Assistant Professor in Computer Science Applications for the Arts at the Department of Fine Arts & Art Sciences, School of Fine Arts, University of Ioannina, Greece. She is a Computer Scientist that completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology (UMIST) in the United Kingdom. Then she completed her doctoral dissertation in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Crete in Greece. Her research background in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Intelligence and Robotics has been recently redirected to their application for the arts. Her more recent research efforts are targeted towards Computational Creativity, Creative Electronics, Digital Interactivity as well as Social Media Mining and Natural Language Processing for the analysis of the artworld.
