---------------------------------------------------------------- A brief summary of the SIGGRAPH Asia 2009 Art Gallery
The SIGGRAPH Asia 2009 Conference was a huge success, drawing 6,500 attendees to Yokohama from all over the world. The conference took place on December 17, 18, and 19th of 2009. Over 30 artists from around the globe gathered in Pacifico Yokohama to exhibit their artworks and performances.
Nomura Ltd. and Hibino Ltd, our Japanese contractors for construction and AV started building the exhibit on December 14th, and artists were invited to install their work on the 15th and 16th of December. The Art Gallery space was approximately 1080 meters squared, in hall A, and we also had a performance space in the Conference Center that seated 80 people. The exhibition opened at 9:30 AM on the 17th of December.
On the night of the 17th, from 17:00-19:00, the Art Gallery held an opening reception with performances in Hall A. The reception was well attended, and gave a chance for artists and attendees to mingle and converse with the artworks. There were large crowds around the lively performances.
During the exhibition, many artists were in the exhibition space to provide demonstrations and explanations to the attendees that visited their booths. There were also a variety of performances that took place throughout the three day exhibit (the schedule is provided in the Conference Locator and Program Guide), as well as informal artist talks in the gallery. These performances and artist talks added a live, dynamic feel to the Art Gallery, creating surprises at every turn for the attendees.
