The SIGGRAPH arts community lost a great friend with the passing of Alice Wagstaff on Monday, December 7. Alice was the studio manager and life partner of Roman Verostko, a recipient of the SIGGRAPH Art Award for Lifetime Achievement in Digital Art. Although she had an active career as a clinical psychotherapist and educator, many of us in the digital art world knew her as an astute member of the greater digital art community.
We first met Alice when both Alice and Roman dedicated over a year of their lives to make FISEA (Fourth International Symposium on Electronic Art) happen in Minneapolis in 1993. Since then, we found her warm enthusiasm at SIGGRAPH, and we knew that even when she was not with us at conferences she was following our community in spirit. And we know that her warm enthusiasm will stay with us for years to come.
